mommy and me ballet.

(sorry for the poor quality of these photos. I need to get our camera out and take a few)

we started a mommy and me ballet class a few weeks ago. Norah loves it and asks to go to dance class randomly during the week. I have always said I wouldn't force it on her, but I will admit, the dancer in me is pretty excited she likes it. honestly, I don't think she'll stick with it forever. and halfway through the class last week, she came up to me with a little whine in her voice asking, "play hockey now?" yeah. Chad was very happy about that one. she's still asking to go to class so we're not quite done yet!

though I really should find some kind of track and field for two year olds because she would own that. I quickly found out that Norah is the two year old who - while everyone else is taking instruction in a circle - is running crazy around outside the circle and checking herself out in the mirror. when she is supposed to tiptoe a teddy bear to me and back to her teacher, she somehow gets away with leaving the bear with me and going back for another. yes, we were hoarding the bears. she is quite the character there, but I'm enjoying seeing her personality shine, as overwhelming as all of her energy can be for me sometimes.

je danse.

something I found on the world wide web. just an old one of my favorites I was re-watching  thought I'd share. [you can stop after a minute and a half.. the rest is just talking.]

also, these harlem shake videos out there? every time I see one I think, 'is there anyone actually doing the harlem shake in any of these?' such a weird trend all of the sudden. [but someone posted this one the other day and I felt a little better.. (; hopefully that link works, let me know.]

oh and go to YouTube and in the search bar type in 'do the harlem shake'. if you've seen the videos, you'll have a little giggle. or you'll just say, "WOW." like we did.

happy weekend.
love.

get on your feet..

..and do yourself (or me) a favor and dance a little. it's national dance day! make it happy.

note: my feelings wouldn't be at all hurt if you wanted to send us a little video of said dancing. (:

okay. don't judge me..

today I saw a preview for a show I've watched many times before and it led me to watching old videos and reminiscing my dancing days. maybe some of you have seen it; So You Think You Can Dance? don't judge me. once a dancer, always a dancer, alright?

[this doesn't really have much to do with the fruit of the spirit series. maybe it does, I don't know. dance did bring me many moments of joy. anyway.]

last year I was pretty busy with both jobs and getting ready to move across the country so I wasn't really planning on watching the show. that is until I saw the powerhouse that is melanie moore. and this dance you'll see in a second. it was obvious from her first performance that she would go pretty far on the show. the first time you saw her on stage was breathtaking. normally you see the talent improve, but it almost seemed like she didn't need to. for a minute I felt like it would be pointless to watch the entire show because there was no way someone could compete with her. but I decided to keep watching when I could because she was inspiring and so beautiful to watch. and then she won.

so I just thought I would share this video. and keep watching her other performances, it will prove to be a good day. (okay, if you're into watching dance. if not, well that's too bad.) seriously though, she's adorable. and just look at those massive leg muscles. yeesh.

have a good one. choose joy! and think about watching the show that starts tonight. I won't because we don't have cable. but maybe I'll think about catching up on hulu tomorrow. maybe. (:

okay and maybe, just make sure you watch this one too, because it was one of my favorites and super cute and all that girly stuff I don't like to admit. (;

an extra day.

We had an extra day here in Michigan today. Yesterday, we were planning on heading out this afternoon, but our car decided she wanted to stay. We had to take it to get fixed but it was just a minor problem opposed to what it could have been if we had already started our venture back to New Orleans. I wasn't really mad about the extra day we got to spend here, either. (:

I also had the pleasure of going to dance class with the sistergirls yesterday. They dance for the studio I used to teach at so it was a real treat for me. I went back later last night to visit the class I used to teach and had a much needed visit with some really wonderful people. Michigan folk, if you're looking for a place to sign up your kiddos for dance, this is a really great studio with a loving, christian foundation. They just moved to a new location and they have much more space! I highly recommend them. I miss that place, dearly, and am so grateful for being able to visit for a bit. It inspired me to look harder for a place in New Orleans that will hopefully have some laid back adult classes just so I can keep it all fresh in my head. I miss using my body that way on a weekly basis.

Well I'm off for one last hang out with a couple princesses while mommy is at work!

Have a great night. ali
