fruit of the spirit: kindness..

..from the mouths of four year olds.

what does it mean to be kind?

s: not be mean. share. be nice. no hitting. no kicking... peanut butter's pretty nice!
>>disclaimer: she was licking peanut butter from her fingers as she was talking. though I would have to agree, peanut butter is pretty darn nice.

e: share your toys. be nice. no hitting. share your food.

show me how to be kind to each other..

ephesians 4:32 | be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you.

proverbs 12:25 | anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.

colossians 3:12 | therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

choose kindness. and for goodness sake people, share your toys.

daydreamer in michigan.

this is the sweetest thing ever. so beautiful. can't wait to be a mom.

don't get excited, it's not happening right now. just daydreaming of that someday happiness.

then I had a Dove dark chocolate from my gram's house and the wrapper said, 'daydreaming is free'. appropriate.

twenty-five sounds weird. but today, that's what I am. so I'm just going to go daydream some more. have a lovely night, wonderful people.

not leaving until wednesday and starting yesterday I already miss my husband.

can you have too much patience? ha. I would just like time to slow down a tad so I can have one more day here. but that probably wouldn't feel like enough. and at the same time I can't wait to get away.

yeah that's definitely not having to do with patience. probably just more of time needed to get out of town. and refreshed, I hope.

but I was thinking about peace and patience and how without one, the other is hard to attain. impatient moments are definitely not peaceful; when we don't have peace, we're impatient for it or something else.

be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. romans 12:12.

in our little community apartment, we're currently practicing patience while our strawberries grow. tiny little things in the beginning, aren't they?

that's all I really have on patience for now. I'll be in our home town wednesday afternoon for a bit and then my parents and I are diving back down here the next week so they can finally visit our new home. I'm sure I'll be roaming my internet space here before then, since this laptop here is completely portable. maybe my nieces will teach me something about patience. (:

what are your thoughts on patience?

peace continued.

I got an email the other day and in the subject line was, 'The newness of June' and it just sounded so peaceful and refreshing and I thought, 'GOOD THING. thank you, Jesus.' not that May was so terrible; there were many great moments. just looking forward to something new, you know? we'll see what God brings in June.

this just hasn't been my week, though. I am trying to stay at peace because naturally I'm being tested in that area, since the fruit this week is, none other than, peace.

but the reason I can have peace and be content during times that don't seem peaceful, when it doesn't even make sense how calm I remain, is hard to explain. this is the only way I can:

and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7.

I can remember a time that I couldn't grasp having peace during trials and life is so much more enjoyable now. we are told not worry and to have peace. meaning, we're sinning if we worry. that's not very peaceful. so I encourage you to strive to find and receive the peace of God. He takes care of the things we think we need to worry about.

some other reminders of graciously given peace:

psalm 34:14 turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

romans 8:6 the mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.

psalm 29:11 the Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.

john 14:27 peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you and the world gives. Do not let your hands be troubled and do not be afraid. [He has given His peace to us. already. we just have to receive and accept it and do what he says.]

And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than look down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow. -G.K. Chesterton
