The Beatles made Billboard history this month in 1964 by occupying the top FIVE spots on the Billboard Hot 100 charts!

Beatles Hot 100 Singles on April 4, 1964:

#1 Can’t Buy Me Love

#2 Twist and Shout

#3 She Loves You

#4 I Want To Hold Your Hand

#5 Please Please Me

Not only did they accomplish that never before or never-since feat, they had seven more songs in the top 100!

The seven other songs and chart positions:

#31 I Saw Her Standing There

#41 From Me to You

#46 Do You Want To Know A Secret

#58 All My Loving

#65 You Can’t Do That

#68 Roll Over Beethoven

#79 Thank You Girl

In the following weeks the number of hits on the chart would expand from 12 to 14!

At the time they also held the top two albums in the U.S., the top single in the U.K. and the number one and three albums in the U.K.

Not bad for being in the U.S. for little over 2 months..!

welcome, spring.

It is the first day of Spring and in honor of just that, I wanted to share a favourite song of mine. A Beatles song (since it is trivia tuesday, after all).

George was skipping a business meeting (or 'sagging off' as the Brits say) at Apple Corps (pronounced 'core'- a pun they intended) and wrote this song while at Eric Clapton's house on one of Clapton's acoustics in 1969. It was included on the Abbey Road album.

some trivia for your tuesday.

Sunday (March 4th, 1966) was the date John Lennon said the Beatles were 'more popular than Jesus', prompting many radio stations in the US to ban their songs and people to burn their records and merchandise.

There's a cool pic where George Harrison is wearing a 'Stamp out the Beatles" t-shirt... Those were made in response to Lennon's remark. Kinda funny... Kinda cool too that he wore it though!

my whole house is great. i can do anything good, yeah, yeah, yeah..

I was recently reminded of one of my favorite videos of all time. So I thought I would share it with all of you. Maybe we should all do this once in a while to remind ourselves of how many things we have to be grateful for. And of just how great we are.
I love the caption under the video.. "Jessica has a day where she's feeling... really good about her life."
And the huge clap after she proclaims that she loves her whole house.
This girl is.. I don't even have words. Oh geesh, just watch it.

43 years ago YESTERDAY, January 30, 1969, the Beatles played their last show together as a band.  They played the impromptu 42 minute concert on the rooftop of the building their studio was in; The Apple Building, located at 3 Savile Row in  London, England.  Show time was around midday on the cold, bitter windy day.

It's amazing to me that four guys that were NOT getting along at all at the time could still make such awesome music!

P.S.- The keyboard player located stage right (not seen much at all) is none other than the great Billy Preston!  George Harrison invited him to sit in their rehearsals because they were all more cordial to each other when a guest was present!

In January of 1962 the Beatles had no record deal and auditioned for Decca Records.  Beatle manager, Brian Epstein, was told by Dick Rowe of Decca, "Groups of guitars are on their way out, Mr. Epstein.  You really should stick to selling records in Liverpool."  He told him electric guitars were "old hat"...!
Ha.
He became known as "The man who turned down The Beatles"!
Luckily for him, on George Harrison's advice, he signed The Rolling Stones to Decca...
Still think he blew it!

So, fifty years later and The Beatles still hold the record for most number one songs within a one year time period and their influence on popular culture still remains monumental.
